thinking about moving to palmie - whats it like for kids?

We are thinking about moving to Palmie. We have 3 kids 7-12 years old. The local high schools look good. But we were wondering about recreation for our soon to be teens. What is it like for kids? Are there lots for them to do? I presume the sports scene is good, but is there any site with info on say cinemas, theatre groups, music, other facilities like bowling, skating, laserquest etc?

thanks for any info

Great place for kids; moved here 3 years ago with kids the same age as yours; sports is fantastic; councils Lido is excellent as are parks. There's a purpose built skatepark; Downtown cinema complete with 3D; Dive school; vibrant arts and crafts and several theatre groups as wella s The Stomach music recording studio. The city library has won awards for design and is really well stocked; Manawatu turbos and Daytona karting is excellent and my son is in the karting club which has great facilities on the edge of town. Very safe fro cycling and we're tipped to win funding for a new Velodrome. Massey University has great athletics facilities. There are a lot of free concerts provided including music concert for all residents at the start of the Student Year (end Feb);a NEw YEar concert; the Festival of Cultures is also excellent...there's almost too much to do and lots of it is free....good Xmas parade too. Is that enough...?
